It simply means that if you take an hour break at 10:00am to walk to Starbucks, or are consistently late every morning, your manager is going to be concerned about your future success in the role. This, of course, does not mean that you can't take breaks, grab a coffee at Starbucks down the street, or go to the restroom. In a sales role, it's important to work when your clients are working, and when your clients are small business owners anywhere in the US or Canada, it does behoove you to be available during our work hours of 8:30am to 5:30pm. It was obvious the managers go through this "we care" training, but when it comes down to their actions, it's just as obvious that they don't. The problem for me was the constant demand to check in with your manager. The commission could be what ever amount of work you want to put into it. It's a typical sales job with an okay base pay. Honestly, it would be a great environment for anybody who doesn't have a life outside of work. Working at Yelp for the time I was there wasn't to bad. As you can imagine, business owners are getting many calls per day from many sales people all trying to sell them something different - a new POS system, advertising, better wifi, the list goes on. Sales can be challenging, mainly due to the large amount of rejection that's expected anywhere you do it.
