Many PC makers are however pre-installing Internet Explorer 7 on new XP PCs, including netbooks. In the latter part of 2007, Microsoft made it clear that IE7 was not included in Windows XP SP3, with both Internet Explorer 6 and 7 receiving updates. In version 7, however, FTP sites are rendered in a hyper-linked webpage and the folder-like view is accessible if the website is accessed via Windows Explorer. Microsoft’s goal was to make their new version of their web explorer as comparable as Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Opera as they could, however with some minor differences. We also liked the print preview feature that adjusts the size of the page to fit your paper’s size.
IE7 was replaced by Internet Explorer 8 in March 2009. IE7 was the default browser for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 and was released as an alternative for Internet Explorer 6 for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP. It’s also the initial version of Internet Explorer which is branded and sold under the Windows brand instead of Microsoft. Security improvements include phishing protection as well as more secure security on Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 (256-bit from 128 bits on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003) and a “Delete browsing history” button to remove private information. New features include tabbed browsing, page zooming, an integrated search box, a feed reader, better internationalization, and improved support for web standards, although it does not pass the Acid2 or Acid3 tests. A few parts of the basic architecture, such as the security and rendering engines have been upgraded.
